【学术报告】康奈尔大学巨龙博士:Probing Topological Valley Physics in Bilayer Graphene

In this talk, I will first show our experimentaldemonstration of the topological valley transport at AB/BA stacking domainwalls in bilayer graphene. By combining near field infrared nanoscopy with lowtemperature electron transport, we showed that a 1D conducting channel existsat this structural domain wall, which can be attributed to the quantum valleyHall edge states in gapped bilayer graphene. Moreover, I will present ourrecent efforts on probing the excitons in bandgap-tuned bilayer graphenethrough advanced optical spectroscopy tools. I will show that due to theelectron pseudospin and Berrycurvature effects, these excitons obey distinct valley-dependent opticalselection rules from that in conventional semiconductors and feature a largevalley g-factor of 20 in magnetic field.


主讲人介绍:

巨龙,2005年毕业于清华大学物理系. 2015年在加州大学伯克利分校取得物理学博士学位。现于康奈尔大学从事博士后研究。2019年1月份将正式入职麻省理工学院物理系任助理教授。研究方向为新型二维材料及其异质结的基础物性研究。实验手段包括光谱学,电学表征以及微纳加工和器件制作。在Science、Nature、Nature Physics 、NanoLetters、NatureNanotechnology、NatureCommunications、Nature Materials等国际期刊发表论文近20篇。
